TRIO Programs

On behalf of our students and their families we would like to WELCOME you to Impact Upward Bound Program. This site is your online connection to this highly successful academic program designed to assist students who have yet to demonstrate their full academic potential.

Upward Bound is an academic support program funded by the U. S. Department of Education's TRIO Programs division. Upward Bound provides the necessary support for economically disadvantaged and/or first generation high school students to complete high school, enroll in college, and successfully obtain a four-year college degree. IMPACT - UB  target high schools: Baker High School & Belarie High School 9th-11th grades.

Parent Programs

Upward Bound encourages parents to get involved with their children's education. We offer an orientation session for parents of new Upward Bound participants, and parents of continuing UB students receive information on college and financial aid options.

Saturday Sessions and Campus Visits  

Join UB for workshops on college preparation and the admissions process. Students participate in:

  • Skill building exercises such management tasks

  • Sessions may include computer exercises

  • How to prepare resumes

  • How to search for college or financial aid information

  • How to gather other resources for future success

Program Eligibility

Upward Bound serves 60 high school students annually.


Eligible participants must be:

  • Classified as a high school student

  • Attends Baker High School or Belaire Magnet High School 

  • In need of academic and/or personal support in order to succeed in high school and college

Two-thirds of the participants must be low income and potential first generation college students. The remaining participants must be either low income or potential first generation college students. Participants are selected based upon recommendations from school officials, the community and social services agencies.
